I run on the road in the New Balance Beacon, which is a lightweight, neutral, cushioned shoe. I moved to these for running on rocky, uneven trails near my house. For that purpose they are really good. They have a surprisingly rigid sole (meaning if you try to bend the shoe heel to toe it doesn't give that much) which means very good protection against rocks and roots. I was also pleasantly surprised with just how much cushion there is in this shoe. No, it's not a huge mound of cushion like the Hooka One, but very well cushioned. I've actually started using these as my go-to for dog walking and just generally wearing around, because they are so comfortable. My only initial reservation about this shoe is it is a little hard to put on at first, because there is mesh up and around the ankle. At first this made it a little hard to get the shoe on, but over time they are loosening up and it isn't a problem anymore. Overall I find these shoes very comfortable. I could wear them all day.I was surprised at how comfortable this shoe is. A lot of reviews stating that it is hard to get on due to the built in sock but I haven't found it hard to get on, however it is not a slip on and grab the mail shoe either. I've put about 12 miles on them and have no complaints, I actually haven't had to wear my runners knee band since getting them. I have a 10k trail run in 2 weeks and will update my review after the race.A tad narrow in the toe box, unlike Hoka or Brooks. Hopefully they will stretch out some. Ankle cuff is a little annoying, but serves a purpose. Take some getting used to. Cushion and platform is supreme. Great design work by NB integrating the foam and vibram. Heavier than most trail runners. Overall, good buy for the money and purpose as an all-around off-road shoe.Shoes are comfortable and fit as expected. The only issue is sometimes they're a pain to put on. The stitching for the sleeve is tight and I'm hoping that eventually they'll loosen just a bit to make it easier. Oh and the loop to help you slide them on... To small if you have big fingers. Overall great shoe but the inconvenience of putting them on sometimes makes them a 4 out of 5 stars from me.Shoes fit great very comfortable. BUT...one issue is the mesh tongue limits foot opening so hard to get feet in the shoes sometimes, the mesh is sewn into the shoe fabric wall can't be removed. The only other issue is these did not come with any sole support as seen from my pics. But even without the sole support these shoes are comfortable to wear everyday. (Sole support on order). Should I give it a 4 star...NO...the shoes overall are a great buy and worthy of a 5 start rating.NB has again provided a great running shoe.I've used dozens of brands of trail runners for backpacking and New Balance have been some of the best for me. I just got back from my first trip with these. They fit great, wide toe box, no hot spots.For daily runs/hikes these are my new go-to shoes. However, I will never use these again for muliti-day backpacking.They are difficult to put on due to the tight built-in rock gators. When backpacking you will want these on/off numerous times in camp. Just a lot of trouble and the sock collar never stretched out to make it easier.I use these shoes for hiking and trail running. Love the fit and level of support I get from the shoe. Some reviewers talk about how it's hard to put the shoe on, but I don't find it to be a problem at all. Yes, it does take an extra few seconds, but once it's on, you'll really appreciate the feel and protection. For me the fit is perfect (8W).I owned a set of NB first go at trail running shoes and absolutley loved them.There were some down sides but it seems like they really beefed the shoe up in this new model. The shoe feels more geared for running specifically not just an every day shoe. I have read people having trouble putting them on and off because of the built in gaiters. I have had no such problems. I will certainly purchase againHave used these on numerous runs so far. Very comfortable and very easy to clean. Used in a 10k trail and 17k trail run recently and no problems at all, highly recommended.Great running shoe for the woods & trailsGran zapatilla. Me machaqué unas Hierro V3 y he probado con las V4 y muy contento, la suela es la misma de foam que, personalmente, me encanta y me va de fábula en cualquier terreno, en cualquiera. Mantiene el protector toe delantero y han cambiado el calcetín, incluyendo un par de costuras nuevas que, la verdad, refuerzan la sujección del pié algo respecto a las V3, haciendo, eso si, que resulte algo más complicado ponérselas. Muy contento con ellas en pistas, caminos, sendas pedregosas, asfalto y gravilla.Son como un guante.De hecho he estado toda la mañana sin cordones ,andando en casa y se adaptan y ajustan perfectamente.Impresiona su amortiguación.Peso 90kgrs. y voy entre algodones.No son chiclosas:son compactas y seguras.Y ventosas!! Las celdillas liberan el calor del pie:nada estancadas.Recomendables 100%Le ho rimandate indietro dopo la prima calzata. Uso con soddisfazione le NB da anni, questo modello con quella sorta di ghettina, con la mia caviglia/calcagno non proprio da ballerina c'ho messo qualche minuto di sofferenza per infilare il piede al suo posto, una volta dentro o.k parevano comode, ma vista quell'unica esperienza a mio parere qualche giorno di infila e sfila avrebbero distrutto in breve quella membrana che forma appunto la ghetta. Secondo me vanno bene per piedi molto esili. Peccato
