For those not familiar with Triclosan, there is an ongoing debate concerning it's use by Colgate in toothpaste. It isn't on the FDA list for multiple reasons. Positive vs negatives? It's antibacterial and it does help with reducing oral bacteria. Take into consideration that the bite of a human is far more serious than bites by dogs or cats. If you have any concerns, do the research. As far as I'm concerned it helps prevent gingivitis and reduces healing time for oral sores (injuries).I'm not in the least concerned about oral use _ absorption via skin? Yes.This has become a favorite in the Colgate family and it's definitely recommended! The image for this product clearly shows the 24 TM/Logo, but what was received is the "New" formula with the SF TM/Logo. This product is as any cheap Colgate formula (had for $2.99) containing only one active ingredient Stanous Floride NOT Triclosan. Falsely advertised. The product is also not returnable- even unopened. Buyer BEWARE of this listing. If you are looking for the original Colgate Total 24 hour protection you will have to order from the United Kingdom or EU. Good luck.I like this toothpasteIts toothpaste.I started using it and actually liked the way it foamed and left my mouth feeling, and no, I did not read the ingredients, which I should have. Anyway, I found it has triclosan, which is FDA-banned on hand soaps as an antibacterial. If it's banned for washing your skin, I sure as heck won't put it in my mouth where I can possibly swallow the stuff. Colgate and the FDA both say it's safe, but I'm not a taker.I dislike the new version with stannous flouride. Bring the first formulation back.
