Overall, I am pleased with these shoes. They are a little snug and the toe box area, even though I bought my pair in a wide size. I have big bunions off of my big toes and these shoes sale are a little too tight to give me adequate room for them. based on the material of the shoe, they might stretch out a little bit. The issue was grip very well. I've run and then once so far and the trail had some mud and moisture and places. I never lost my footing. These souls are quite firm but still offer a very decent amount of cushioning. I did two and a half miles in them, and the bottom of my left forefoot was starting to hurt. You saw those are removable, so I will probably put some softer insoles in them and take the original ones out. The sock like opening of the shoe is tight and prevents any trail pieces from getting into your shoes. I was concerned about getting blisters, so I made sure to wear socks that come up higher than the shoes' openings and I didn't have any problems. Overall, these are great shoes. I'm especially happy to have gotten them at the price that I did. I'm looking forward to many more miles put in these shoes.I should have known that these were not real New Balance shoes based on the color alone; New Balance almost never has bright neon colored anything in their product line. However, they looked almost exactly like my previous pair of New Balance Women's Fresh Foam Hierro V3 Trail Running Shoes in the picture in terms of build/structure. When I received them, the only visual differences that I could perceive between my previous, well-loved and worn pair and these were: 1. These have a smaller stripe down the back than the original, 2. The laces just feel different. They seem skinnier and not like the other New Balance laces. However, the real difference between these and the actual New Balance Women's Fresh Foam Hierro V3 Trail Running Shoes became apparent when I went on a 4 mile run: my left toes smashed repeatedly into the front of the shoe throughout the whole run. I could also acutely feel the pavement smashing my left foot through the shoe. By the end of the run, my foot could hardly take it and I had sore feel for several days.I returned these and bought a pair of the Hierro V5s from my local running shoe store. They had plenty of toe room, like my original V3s, and they cushioned my run perfectly.I do not recommend buying these New Balance shoes anywhere except for off of the New Balance website or an actual running shoe store. $136 is a lot of money to pay for a crappy knock-off that's impossible to determine until you wear them for 4 miles. Amazon did accept the return, but they put my funds onto a gift card that I haven't been able to locate, so I'm still out $136 on these crappy shoes.I read the reviews before buying, but I was very curious about the non-lip sock-like ankle situation. Also, I did a search for trail running shoes for high arches and this showed up as the most affordable. First of all, I LOVED the sock-like ankle entrance (I can’t think of what it’s called right now, ok?). I didn’t get any gravel or sand in my shoes. The cushion/arch support was pretty solid, in my opinion. I knocked off one star because it’s a half size too small on me. Most shoes “my size” are too big for me still, so if this is small for me, then I suggest a sizing up one full size. It loosened up for me after walking in it for an hour or so.It's rare to find a pair of athletic shoes that are wide enough for my toes to lay comfortably without rubbing on the side of the shoe. I would have loved to keep these, but sent them back because of the elastic piece that binds the foot around the opening of the shoe. it was too tight for my comfort, but it probably would be great for keeping rocks from getting in. But I wanted them for walking shoes and don't need the elastic part. These are the most comfortable sport shoes I’ve ever owned. Soft, cushiony soles make me feel like I am waking on an anti-fatigue mat all day. These are also light weight, great for running. The one negative is putting the shoe on. It has an inner 1/2 lining that kinda fits like a low rise sock that hugs your foot around the top. I need to use a shoehorn to put the shoes on. It’s so comfortable that I tend to overlook that negative. After signing up for my first ever trail event, I decided I needed a pair of shoes up to the task. My friend, who works as a shoe salesman, recommended these as an all round good choice (good price, comfortable, available in wide), and he has a pair of his own with which he has had very good experiences. Now, I typically stick with Brooks shoes, which I am told are a little wider anyway, but after his suggestion, I decided to try these out in a wide and have loved them.I haven’t tackled any really technical courses in them yet, but I have definitely noticed a difference from my regular shoes and have been very pleased with them overall.I'm on my 4th pair of these. I love them. It is a bit wierd getting your foot in since the tongue is different, but once you get the hang of it ... It's really no problem. 8mm heal to toe drop works for my feet. Great padding and the grippiest shoe I've ever owned. I did buy one pair of the v4 and even thought they were close I went back to the v3. Great shoe for trail running and a great price.I got these for myself but granddaughter runs and needed new running shoes so I gave them to her. Fit us both well even though my foot is narrow and hers is medium. Love the ankle guard, as she runs cross country in the mountains. The trails are pretty dusty and rocky. Nice cushion. Update. Granddaughter outgrew these before she could wear them. I took them back and wear them often. Love them!
